Learn How To Knit

Knitting Machine

Many people have a desire to knit, but get discouraged when they actually begin knitting. Maybe its because they are a little clumsy with their hands, and just cant do the movements necessary to get the right stitches. Or, perhaps its a matter of discomfort. Maybe knitting for too long a time causes them to get arthritis in their writs. Whatever the situation is, those who love to knit do not have to limit themselves to just knitting by hand. This is because with a knitting machine, a person can use automated means to create their favorite knitting project.

What is a knitting machine? A knitting machine is one that mechanically knits a garment. However, a knitter is still needed. Why? Its because the knitting machine cannot feed in the yarn. They also do not know which row needs a particular stitch. This is where the knitting operator, (a human being), comes in. So, ultimately, a knitting machine still requires some knitting to be done, its just not as much work on the hands.

Knitting machines are not limited when it comes to what they can make. Nowadays, knitting machines can produce garments, blankets, hats and even crafts. In fact, many of the free knitting patterns that you see on the Internet or the paid ones in books can be used in a knitting machine, provided that the instructions are written for this type of use.

However, it should be noted that in order to use a knitting machine well, you should still at least have a basic understanding of knitting. If you do not know about the knit stitch, the purl stitch or casting on, you need to do what is necessary to learn the fundamentals behind knitting. While the knitting machine will automate knitting, it is only the needlework that gets taken care of. You still need to know what youre doing to determine how those needles are going to work. If you do not understand knitting, you will not be able to use a knitting machine, whether its operating the machine directly or having to read the knitting pattern.

To get knitting machines, one can go to their local sewing or yarn store or they could go online. Price-wise, a regular knitting machine will cost a couple hundred dollars. There are also novelty knitting machines that are designed for children. These are small and very easy to use and relatively inexpensive. You may even want to consider starting out on these types of knitting machines before upgrading to a real one. This is especially the case if youre a beginning knitter. You will only be able to create small projects, but the kid knitting machine will give you an idea of how knitting machines work as well as how you embark in the knitting process through a machine.

In conclusion, knitting machines can make the life of a knitter much easier. However, it will not eliminate the need for knowing how to knit. If a person doesnt know how to knit, they should obtain that knowledge first before moving on to the knitting machine.
